Looking forward

Yesterday I picked up Howard Schultz’s book, “Onward”. I had been meaning to for a while but it kept getting replaced on the priority list. However, the other day I read a great article about what Starbucks was doing to support educating it’s employees, and I felt compelled to read this story. As I started the book, I came across a magical paragraph that I had to share. It was one that resonated so clearly, there was no way I could keep it to myself. As we dare to think differently about the usual possibilities…or perhaps we’re contemplating taking a different path at a crossroad …or we are at a point of major change in our lives, these words may help carry us beyond what we might have thought possible. I am a student of life who is practicing the art of listening to my heart and having the courage to follow new paths. This was a great affirmation to read and I thankfully share it with you…

There are moments in our lives when we summon the courage to make choices that go against reason, against common sense and the wise counsel of people we trust. But, we lean forward nonetheless because, despite all risks and rationale argument, we believe that this path we are choosing is the right thing to do. We refuse to be bystanders, even if we do not know exactly where our actions will lead.

Howard Schultz, “Onward”

I hope your path is clear and that you listen to your heart.
